Matt Shanks
C. Matthew Shanks attended Texas A&M University and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history. Following graduation, Matt attended Texas Tech School of Law. While in law school, Matt was awarded with the highest grade in his legal writing course and had the privilege of being selected to work as an assistant for his legal writing professor. In addition to school, Matt also worked with private attorneys in a variety of areas of practice and volunteered his time as a certified mediator at Lubbock's Dispute Resolution Center.
After graduation, Matt began his legal career as an Assistant County Attorney with the Williamson County Attorney's Office. As an Assistant County Attorney Matt practiced in front of each of the Williamson County Courts and handled cases involving family law, protective orders, and criminal law. In June of 2005, Matt left the Williamson County Attorney's Office to found the Law Office of C. Matthew Shanks. Matt focuses his law practice on criminal law and juvenile law matters. In addition to criminal and juvenile cases Matt is also frequently appointed by the Courts of Williamson County to represent the interests of children and parents in cases involving Child Protective Services.
Matt has also been a member of the Board of Directors for the Williamson County Bar Association for the last 5 years and is currently serving as its Vice President. Additionally, Matt is involved in his community and serves as the President of his homeowner's association.
